So much fibre!

The Island Knits Fibre Market is over, and I’d say it was a great success!  The Victoria Public Market was packed all day, and hopefully all the vendors made oodles of sales!

I had a lot of fun meeting and chatting with people – there are so many creative and interesting people in this city.

Here are a few blurry and busy pictures of my booth.

Thanks you to everyone for all your support leading up to this event – it was much appreciated!  😘

A whole lotta needle felting!

Fall Felting

Yay – fall has arrived (and not my usual kind of fall 😉).  First off, the annual pumpkin needle felting workshop is happening on October 21st at the Beehive Wool Shop, from 10:30 – 12:30am. Call or drop by the Beehive to book a spot! This is one of my favourite workshops – pumpkins are fun.

Secondly, I’m taking part in a market on October 28th (poster below). It’s a fibre market arranged by Island Knits, and the list of sellers makes me keep repeating to myself “I’m there to sell, not to buy (much)”.

I’m madly felting away to produce stock, and have broken out “the good stuff” – hand-dyed fibres that I’ve been hoarding. I will also be making some copper and sterling silver fibre related jewellery (shawl pins and sticks, and possibly stitch markers).

I’m really excited about this – I haven’t participated in a market in years.  I’ve been saying that I need to be two people – one to obsess over all of the organizational and table design details (I’m a great obsesser!), and the other to actually make stuff. My mind is whirling!

I hope to see you there! There’s always the opportunity for lots of yummy food at the Public Market too… choosing is the difficult part…

Time for a refresh

Update time!

Vacations get me all fired up to be creative, but alas, during the last week of my holiday I fell and sprained my thumb.  Sigh.  It is, of course, the thumb on my dominant hand.  I’ve been getting very antsy about not doing anything creative, but I have come to realize that maybe I need to turn my thoughts to what I can do, rather than focus on what I can’t.  I decided this week that it was time for a bit of a website overhaul, and so it has begun.  You won’t find any “construction zone” blank pages – I’ll just start making little changes here and there.

Please let me know your thoughts on the changes, and especially let me know if something isn’t working.  Hopefully this will be a fairly smooth transition.

Thanks for all your support!  Here is a picture of Smudge helping me needle felt (which I can do for short amounts of time).

Easter Eggs Part Two

Have you been swithering about whether or not you want to take a workshop on needle felting Easter eggs?  Good news – while the April 1st class is full, another has been scheduled for April 8th.  As always, space is limited. Drop by the Beehive or give them a call at 250-385-2727 to register. Hope to see you there!

It’s easier than dyeing…

Needle felting eggs, that is. It’s definitely less messy… well, maybe less messy. Hmmm… forget what I just said. The mess is easier to clean up, well, unless you have a cat – that can make it challenging.

All this to say there is a new needle felting workshop scheduled at the Beehive Wool Shop on April 1 from 10:30am – 12:30pm. We’ll be making and decorating eggs – all supplies provided. It will be up to you how detailed you want to get, but I will show you how to layer colours for shading, and how to add dimension to your creation. The egg can be displayed in a variety of ways – in an egg-cup, propped against something or hanging like an ornament.  Space is limited (six people), so sign up by calling (250-385-2727) or dropping in to the Beehive (1700 Douglas Street). Hope to see you there!
